On the surface...

Outdoor worktops, modules and splashbacks handmade in glorious technicolour on the Isle of Wight.

The Vlaze story began nearly 50 years ago when Alfred J Wells and his two sons set up an engineering business in Niton on the Isle of Wight. They originally undertook tractor and machinery repairs but went on to produce a small wood burning stove to help people heat their homes during the 1970s oil crisis. This Charnwood range of stoves grew in popularity, with more family members joining the business, and a vitreous enamel plant was installed enabling the team to coat the stoves on site.

The company became renowned for producing a long lasting and durable enamel finish and by the early 1990s had diversified again to work with Transport For London (TFL) producing the iconic vitreous enamel signs, diagrams and cladding for the London Underground and then producing new signage in preparation for the London 2012 Olympics.

Winners of the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise: International Trade in 2009, A. J. Wells established Vlaze – a new brand that focused on the use of vitreous enamel for the living environment. Various high-end commissions and collaborations followed with the launch of the stunning Vlaze ADAPT range of modular kitchens coming in 2020.

Designed to be moved freely from indoors to out, these beautiful units are engineered from stainless steel. They are adorned with a vitreous enamel surface that has a luxurious vibrant glaze and is at once heatproof, hygienic and stain resistant. With a kaleidoscope of colours to choose from, an ADAPT unit adds a splash of colour and a touch of luxury to any outdoor living space.

We love them for their versatility, both in the fact that they can be easily moved, and also because the team at Vlaze are happy to work with clients so that a range of grills, BBQs and ovens can be accommodated within them. If you love the ADAPT range as much as we do then we wold love you to come and see them in situ in our showroom – they really have to be seen up close to fully appreciate their quality and design.
